How To Get To Your Wedding Body As A Couple

You know the saying, the couple that works out together, stays together? Okay, maybe I made that up but it’s actually true! Let’s face it, working out and eating healthy can be an ADDED stress to an already stressful time for couples. This is all the more reason why you should both take a breath, get together and move that body!

Working out with your partner will not only help you both get into shape but enhance your relationship as well. According to a recent study by John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, couples who workout together are 40-70% more likely to reach their goals. Here, I put together some ways to help you and your partner reach that wedding body.

Get sweaty: Having your romantic partner with you during your workouts will push you harder, challenge you and boost your energy output. Exercise induces the symptoms of physiological arousal—sweaty hands, a racing pulse, shortness of breath. These symptoms mirror the thrill of romantic attraction. All good things here!

Plan your workouts: Take the time to figure out when you both can workout together. Once you figure out what works for you both, you will help each other reach your fitness goals and the added time together will bring you closer. With busy schedules, couples find that this time spent together becomes truly invaluable. Plus, two birds one stone! I can definitely get down with that.

Provide feedback: remembering to pace yourselves, use your rest periods wisely and play off each other. It helps so much when your partner says things like “keep going, just 5 more, you got this” as well as “keep your back straight and go slow.” This keeps you both motivated and committed.

Compromise: this might be one of the hardest to do. What happens if you’re a runner and your partner likes to only lift weights? Find that middle ground and switch it up. This will keep things interesting and allow you both to try new things. Another great idea is to split up some workouts, maybe he hits the bench for 30 minutes while you go for a jog and then you both meet on the mat for a hardcore ab workout together. Find what works for you and stick to it!

Hit the sheets: If you need more motivation, there’s nothing like getting your cardio in at home in bed. We all know the benefits of having sex daily. Not only will your confidence levels be up from all the workouts together but you will also be burning some serious calories. This is a win-win in my book!

Use these some or all of these tips to help you reach your wedding body. What’s your favorite?
